PT Dua Jangkar Indonesia has once again achieved a milestone in placing professional workforce in the global fishing sector. Our crew members have officially joined and are now serving aboard a Deep Sea Trawler flying the Spanish flag.
Spain is known for possessing one of the most advanced fishing fleets in the world. The deployment of our crew to this fleet demonstrates that Indonesian seafarers possess the physical endurance and technical competence recognized for operations in challenging international waters.
Below is an overview of the vessel and the working environment our crew will encounter.

Understanding Spanish Deep Sea Trawlers
The vessels where our crew operate are not ordinary fishing boats; they are modern “floating factories.” These ships are typically Stern Trawlers (nets deployed from the rear), ranging in length from 30 to over 80 meters.
Key Features and Operations:
- Onboard Processing Factory (Factory Trawler): A primary feature of these vessels is their onboard processing capability. The catch is not merely stored but immediately cleaned, processed, and frozen onboard (freezer trawlers). This technology ensures the catch remains of premium quality even during long periods at sea.
- Long Range Expeditions: These vessels are designed for extended voyages. The crew must be mentally and physically prepared, as the ship may operate on the high seas for several months without returning to port, supported by extensive logistics and fuel storage.
- Challenging Operational Areas: The Spanish deep-sea fleet often operates in demanding waters such as the North Atlantic or the Falkland region. These areas are known for potentially extreme weather conditions, making crew safety and discipline an absolute priority.
- Technology and Gear: In terms of navigation, the vessels are equipped with advanced radar, Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), and sometimes thermal cameras for visibility in poor conditions. For fishing, they employ the bottom otter trawl method using durable, elastic polyethylene nets designed specifically to withstand seabed abrasion.
Crew Management: These types of vessels are typically manned by a substantial crew, reaching up to 40 personnel. Duties are efficiently divided between the deck team, who manage fishing operations, and the factory team, who handle fish processing on the lower decks.
The selected crew from PT Dua Jangkar Indonesia have undergone rigorous selection to ensure they are ready to work within this high-standard system.
